Lunch at the Byerlys

On the 18th, we went to lunch at Jason's godparents' house. IT WAS AMAZING!! When I grow up :) I want to cook 1/2 as well as Jeanette does.

Another first

On the 22nd, Harrison decided to take matters into his own hands and started holding his bottle. This morning, I was running late but that turned out to be a good thing because I got to witness this first. I quickly grabbed the camera to be sure to get a few pictures of this cute first. He doesn't do it all the time, and he is better at holding the 4 oz bottles than the 8 oz, but hey-it's progress!

Movin' and Groovin'

Harrison is officially a mover and a shaker. When we went to wake him up on the morning of the 22nd, we discovered that he had been very busy. He had turned 180 degrees in the crib, gotten out of his swaddle AND the sleep positioner. How did he do that? So, he can no longer have ANYTHING in his crib (you can see we even took out the bumper before this all happened--I love that bumper...). He is not happy about it, but he will get used to it (I HOPE!).

Sweet Potatoes

I am so proud of myself! Today, I made baby food for the first time! I picked sweet potatoes because everything I have read says it is a good first food, plus I had a little more confidence about what to do. So we now have two trays of sweet potatoe ice cubes for a mere $1.50! That's right! For the cost of one jar of sweet potatoes, we have more than a week's worth! WHOO HOO! AND Harrison LOVED them. THanks to Heather and Sue for encouraging me!

Harrison or Kramer?

Yes, his hair really is this curly naturally. SO CUTE!

Saturday with Harrison

I've got a wiggly one today, so not much time to write, but I did want to put this adorable picture up. I took it because the social worker at school gave him this outfit and I wanted her to see how cute it was on him. Today is the first time he has worn it.

Harrison's Mamaw Quilt

Jason's grandmother was famous for the quilts she would make by hand. They are the "Mamaw Quilts". I knew I was offically in the family when I was presented with one one Christmas after we got married. I was so excited!!! But Jason's mom recently brought over Harrison a very special treat-his very own Mamaw Quilt! Now, Mamaw passed away a few years ago, which makes this even more special. It is BEAUTIFUL and the last one there is!! Harrison is named for her (her name was Kathryn Harrison Albert), so I think it is very fitting that he have a special quilt from his special great grandmother.

Rice cereal

Harrison started solids on New Year's Eve. Here is one of his first times eating rice cereal. Not much is cuter than a baby eating cereal!!!

Harrison's new 'trick'

We have shoved that passy into Harrison's mouth as much as we can, but he has still managed to find that darn thumb! We prefer the passy to the thumb because we can take away the passy, whereas you can't really do that to a thumb. As much as I don't like it, I do have to admit it is pretty cute...

Haircut

We finally cut some of Harrison's hair! We didn't cut much (if you ask Jason he'd say we didn't get our money's worth from the 'barber'), but it is enough to keep it from curling out from behind his ears. I think the pieces we cut were about 1 1/2 inches long, and he still has plenty of hair left!!

Big Daddy

We are sad to report that early this morning, my grandfather James Henry Walker passed away. He was a wonderful man, and his life was a long and good one. We will miss a lot about him, but we know that he is not in pain any longer. Thank God for a life well lived.

We're still alive!

We are still here! I promise! Between trips to SC to see my grandfather and just keeping up with the daily grind, we are keeping pretty busy. (BY the way, please keep him in your prayers, as well as our whole family. Big Daddy is pretty sick and we don't expect that it will be long until he goes home to be with Jesus.) But on my to-do list for this weekend is to update the blog with some more pictures and print some out too. I have been getting serious threats if I don't bring some new Harrison pictures to work. :) I haven't even printed some pictures since the beginning of December. After all the work I did making calendars on snapfish, it was necessary for the two of us to spend some time apart so we didn't kill each other. :)

BUT I did want to tell everyone that SUE (my little sis!) is expecting Baby #2 at the end of July! For the third Christmas in a row, my parents found out they have a grandchild on the way! We told them don't hold your breath for a 4th. :) YEAH SUE AND TOM! I can't wait! Harrison is hoping for a boy. :)
