Check Up
So we were a little late getting Harrison to his 18 month check-up (had to reschedule and you know how hard it is to get a check up appointment with a doctor!). But nevertheless, Harrison is doing very well! He is still cruising along, following "his growth curve" as Dr. Walker said. He is holding strong at 10 %ile in weight and 40th in height. Tall and thin-wonder where he got that from!!?!! He is doing very well and definitely reaching all his developmental milestones. Dr. Walker said he can't remember the last time that he actually got to sit and listen to an 18 month old heart for so long because they usually freak out. Not Harrison though! Cool as a cucumber. When he got his shots, he screamed out for about a minute, then started patting me on my back as if to say, it's okay Mommy. I'm fine. Dr. Walker gave us the go ahead to try the "we-are-not-coming-in-here-until-6:00-no-matter-how-much-you-cry" approach because Harrison regularly is up and at 'em at 4:30. TOO EARLY. I'll let ya know how that one works!! HAHA

Big Help
I am sure you have noticed that we have not spent much time on the blog lately. For good reason--our house is for sale! We have been working hard to get and keep it ready for a prospective buyer to pop in at any moment. While that hasn't happened much yet, we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will pick up. But Harrison has been watching us do a little extra housework, and apparently it has rubbed off on him. He has always been obsessed with cleaning, thanks in large part to his first sweet sitter Carissa. I dream of having a house as clean as hers!! But I guess he has figured out that you sweep things off the floor, and he has spent a lot of time helping us do that. So cute!

We have also spent a lot of time outside. My camera battery is dead, so I will take some pictures of us out there tomorrow, but my boy LOVES to be outside. Yesterday he cried when I picked him up at the sitter's house because he wanted to go outside and play, not go with me! He also wants to be pushed in his stroller all the time, which I hope will turn into a good thing as Momma tries to lose a few more pounds.
Harrison is finally starting to speak out. He has said a few sentences ("There's Mama!" was my favorite) and lots of words. I never could understand other kid's jibberish before now, but have become fluent in Harrison's jibberish!

Look at my belly!

We had manicotti for dinner tonight, so Harrison got to eat shirtless. When we got done, he got down and started playing. It is so cute to see that big fat belly! I have been scrapbooking lately and using this blog to remember just what was happening when I took pictures, so I was rereading all the posts from his first few months when he was so small. It makes me even more thankful to see that big belly when I remember how small he was so many months ago!
Getting ready for Valentine's Day
Harrison and I have been very busy getting ready for Valentine's Day. Yesterday, on one of the snow days we have had this week, we painted a shirt. He put his footprints on the shirt and then we made it into a heart. Here is the final product.

Next, we started working on Valentines. Harrison did not like this part at all, so I don't know how many we will actually get to send out. But we'll see!!!
Here is us painting the cards.

To spite the look on his face, we did have a good time!

Positive choice
I considered posting a little mini-tirade about how the radio stations start playing Christmas music at the beginning of November and then stop playing then the night of December 25th. But, instead of complaining, I will instead bring you my very favorite silly Christmas song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwKI82CTp2o and my favorite serious Christmas song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifEUn1AxDYo for your enjoyment.

Special hiding spot
Well today I figured out that we wrongly accused the dogs of eating Harrison's fridge letters. We had been missing the N and O for a while, and thought they were lost or, more likely, eaten by a dog. Today, I was doing the dishes after making cookies, and I hear Harrison over in front of the fridge grunting and making all sorts of noises. The few times I glanced at him, it looked like he was just hugging all over Sam. But then, I spotted him pulling out two really icky, dirty letters out from under the fridge. He hid them under there I guess!! So I quickly grabbed them and washed them. I gave them back to him and spelled his name for him. He smiled, took the N off the fridge, and shoved it back underneath the fridge. I tried to grab it but my hands aren't long or fast enough, so we will have to fish it out. He is so crazy!!!

Spaghetti
Last night, we enjoyed some spaghetti for dinner. The sauce was leftover from Jason's birthday dinner and it was so good (I didn't make it so I can say that!). I finally gave in and thought it would be fun to let Harrison have at it too.

So we stripped him down and let him go for it.

He had a blast!! He decided the best way to eat it was to get it all over your hands, and then slurp it off.

He loved it and ate two whole salad plates full of it.
Yummy!
Here is the final product. This is actually him giving the sign for 'all done'. We went straight up to the bath and scrubbed him down. I think this might go down as his favorite meal ever!
