More haircut pictures-go to bottom and scroll up

Here are some more pictures of Harrison's first haircut. He was such a big boy! He loved the drape that they put on him. He flapped his arms with a huge smile on his face before she started. He sat so still and didn't mind it at all. He even was okay with having his bangs cut. Thank goodness he had such a sweet Daddy to hold him.

Finally, Harrison had to give into the Sandman. I guess he was so relaxed that he just couldn't stand it and went to sleep. How sweet!

Haircut

Well, we are having some technical difficulties getting the pictures of Harrison's first haircut up, but here are some just to wet your appetite. The first problem is that our digital camera went kaput while he was getting his hair cut. The second problem is that I got all the pictures from Jason's Dad's camera, but I can't get them to load to the blog. Anyway, squint your eyes and you will get a glimpse of it! More to come!

Standing up!

Harrison is moving onto bigger and better things-he's standing up! WHOO HOO! That means walking is coming, and that is so much less nasty than crawling!!!

Meals

Harrison is feeding himself more and more things. He LOVES it. Look at the concentration! The top ones are at Jason's parents house the first time he had a scrambled egg, and the bottom ones are his first attempt at shredded cheddar.

Sunday School

Each Sunday, Harrison visits our Sunday School class to provide a moment or two of entertainment before grabbing his mid-morning snack. On this day, he got a lot of enjoyment out of our yellow, moving coffee table. So cute to watch him discover new things!

Miss Mary's Children's Parade

Well, one would think that now that I am out of school that I have TONS of time to do fun things like post on the blog, wouldn't one? WRONG! It is very busy being home with a crawling almost 10 month old!

Last weekend, one of the big events that we had been getting ready for was Miss Mary's Children's Parade. It is held the Saturday before 4th of July each year. Miss Mary used to be a preschool teacher, and she came up with the idea of having a children's parade when the preschoolers asked why they couldn't be in the town parade, so now the children have a parade of their own. It is put on by the Kiwanis club, and the Rotary Club takes advantage of the crowd to crown Miss Fourth of July. She is usually a high school senior, and for the past two years, Jason has helped interview candidates. This year, he had the honor of crowning her! After she is crowned, she leads the children's parade. When I told my mom about it and asked if she wanted to come, I assured her that it was really kind of boring to watch but OH so fun for the kids. All you do is walk around the courtyard in front of Town Hall. Then they create this horrible vortex of children walking around and around and around. I say it is horrible because by the time the parade started, Harrison decided that he did not want to be in his stroller that I decorated for him, so I carried him. Then, he pulled his hat off and started playing with it. Of course, once we all started walking in circles, he kept dropping it. In order to pick it up I had to risk life and limb and hope that the kiddies behind me didn't run me over! Finally, I made a mad dash to get out! We had paraded enough. But it was really cute to see all the kids dressed up and in their red, white and blue. At the end, the Kiwanis Club gave out two savings bonds, one to a girl and one to a boy. Next year, I hope to be able to explain to Harrison a little about why the Fourth of July is so important.

What we've been up to

Last weekend, we made our long anticipated trip to South Carolina. I had been dying to get down there to see Nana and Uncle Bo for a LONG time, and I was so happy it finally worked out for us to go. We had a great visit with them, and enjoyed looking around Nana's new room at Morningside. She seems like she has really settled in nicely. The 'highlight' of the visit was Harrison's first black eye. When we first got to Nana's Saturday morning, Harrison was playing with his blocks and toppled over. He hasn't quite figured out that when you fall, you should put your hands out to catch yourself. So he went face first into a block. I really didn't see him hit the block, and I broke out into my obligatory round of applause. (Yes, I clap when he hurts himself....he looks at me for a reaction, when I give him a positive one, he goes right along like nothing ever happened. Hey, it works!) Anyway, he looked at me, and started to scream. I stopped clapping (obviously) and scooped him up. Poor little guy! He finally calmed down and enjoyed a stroll around the place in Nana's super cool chair. He loved driving it! In fact, he figured out how to turn it on and off, and he drove her into the wall a couple of times! It was quite a sight to see! Harrison also got his first taste of turkey and mashed potatoes. Yummy. He loved both. Nana told him that if he liked those potatoes, just wait until he got some REAL mashed potatoes. I can't wait to go back!
